The Europe WW2 Raids is an interactive, educational experience designed to provide insight into the scale and impact of bombing raids across Europe during World War II. Developed in Unity  for Purdue University's College of Liberal Arts under the direction of Dr. Sorin Adam Matei, this project visualizes historical bombing raid  events by generating vertical chained towers at key locations, each within a 10 km radius of the actual bomb drop points.

As users navigate the simulation, they’ll encounter towering representations of these historical events, each structured with data-driven accuracy to reflect the scale of specific raids. The simulation allows users to switch between multiple perspectives, from close-up views of individual bomb towers to broader strategic regional views, offering a layered understanding of the geographic spread and intensity of the bombing campaigns.

This project combines educational elements with immersive visual design, creating a unique, data-informed way to explore and engage with historical events. Ideal for history enthusiasts, educators, and students, the simulator aims to shed light on the extensive reach of WWII events through a format that is both informative and interactive.

Key Features:

  • Historical Data Integration: Bomb towers are generated based on real WWII data, providing accuracy and authenticity.
  • Multi-perspective Camera Views: Users can switch between close-up views and broader regional perspectives to examine the landscape.
  • Dynamic Visuals: Towers rise as chains above targeted zones, illustrating the scale and impact of each bombing location.

This simulation was created as part of an educational initiative, with copyright owned by Purdue University. It serves as a resource for understanding WWII from a new, spatial perspective, bringing historical data to life through interactive visualization.
